Position Summary:

Processes credentialing and re-credentialing applications of health care providers, reviews applications, prepares verification letters and maintains the database. Reviews applications and other data for accuracy and completeness. Performs verification of reappointment applications by preparing requests for information letters, tracks responses, and follow-up for needed information. Obtains licensure, certification and insurance certificates at the time of reappointment and maintains in the database. Enters accurate and up-to-date data for each applicant into the database and responds to verification requests. Coordinates and processes prospective residents’ applications, contracts and documentation. Works under the supervision of the Medical Affairs Director. Assists in compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, CMS and NCQA) in regards to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws. Assists Medical Affairs Director with duties such as making copies, preparing mailings, attending medical staff meetings, taking and preparing minutes, etc.

  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Process credentialing and re-credentialing applications of the health care providers to meet ensuring government and accrediting agency and Interfaith Medical Center standards.
  2. Coordinates and schedules prospective residents and fellows, contracts and applications for the appropriate departments.
  3. Runs monthly reports of expirables (licenses, dea, malpractice insurances, etc.) notifies practitioners of impending expiring information and collects necessary documentation to keep all information current in the database.
  4. Maintain medical staff and residents files and credentialing software data base (Cactus)
  5. Assist the Medical Affairs Director with medical staff functions for the hospital as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations. This includes arranging meetings with appropriate committee compositions. Assist with the coordination of Medical Staff Quarterly Meetings; including agenda and minutes. (Quarterly meets March, June, September and December)
  6. Assign ID, DEA and Medicaid numbers for incoming residents
  7. Draft certificate/diploma for graduating and pass graduates
  8. Maintains residents lounge assuring meals and supplies are stock
  9. Verifies residents and fellows documentations required for the boarding process
  10. Ensure applications are mailed and/or email promptly and tracked on a weekly spreadsheet.
  11. Provide participation updates to management and maintain the database.
  12. Deliver applications for signature, assist with troubleshooting credential issues.
  13. Check applications for completeness and accuracy.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

Education: 

Bachelors degree or 6 years of credentialing credentialing experience.  

 

Experience: 

Minimum of three years of healthcare credentialing experience. 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook E-mail applications

Able to prioritize work in an environment with multiple interests.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion

Highly organized and detail oriented

Competency using a variety of computer software.

Proficient in health industry software applications for credentialing

Ability to exercise good judgment

Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS and NCQA

Good interpersonal skills

Able to meet deadlines in the active department

 

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS :

CPCS Preferred but not required

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Position requires prolonged periods of sitting and use of a computer and screen viewing throughout the working day. Involves standing, walking, bending and talking
